CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy or CST, is a gentle, empowering therapy used as a treatment for multiple issues and for all ages.

The CranioSacral System is made up of spinal fluid, the membranes around the spine and brain and the bones of the head and tail (or sacrum).

While assisting surgery, Dr John Upledger observed that the membranes around the spinal cord moved in a pulsating fashion. We call this movement the CranioSacral Rhythm and use our hands to 'listen' to its movement via the web of connective tissue (or fascia) that surrounds every vessel and organ of the body.

CranioSacral Therapy works by listening to you in an holistic way. Not only to what you may be saying verbally but also to what your body is saying as you speak.

Multihands

Multihands CST offers a unique and synergistic approach. You will experience the support of two or more therapists working simultaneously, blending and melding with you and one another.

The therapists work as one and this approach can increase the healing potential exponentially. By supporting you both physically and emotionally and creating a safe, contained space, you have the potential to touch on deep and unresolved issues.

I regularly run Multihands clinics at my Holsworthy practice. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions about how this may help you.

Babies and Children

CranioSacral Therapy is renowned for its success in treating babies and children. In my practice I see new borns struggling with colic or difficulties with sleeping, feeding or latching. Many parents bring their babies because they have had traumatic births and or have 'funny shaped heads'.

Babies respond really well to the gentle CST approach.

I also see children with learning difficulties, dental issues, recurrent ear infections or postural misalignments.

Most of my clients are referrals from other mums and dads but I also see babies referred via Health Visitors and GPs.

SomatoEmotional Release

Somato Emotional Release ® is the term coined by Dr John Upledger in 1979 to describe the process occurring in the body whereby emotion is experienced in an embodied physical manner and released through the body tissues with the aid of the hands of the listening therapist.

Chronic illness, poor immunity, traumatic events, anxiety or lack of energy may have an emotional background that is manifesting in a physical symptom.

Each CST session holds the potential for an 'SER' moment or experience when the therapist and client are attuned and melded. SER only occurs when sufficient safety and trust is established in the relationship.

Upledger Programmes CIC

Upledger Programmes is a not-for-profit organisation set up by myself and my colleague, Caroline Barrow, in 2017 to provide Intensive CranioSacral Therapy Programmes for people suffering with complex physical and emotional needs.

These programmes are unique in that they offer 5 days of multi hands treatment in a residential setting. The healing that can occur with so much support is extraordinary.

These programmes have been run in the USA for over 20 years supporting veterans, those struggling with PTSD, post concussion syndrome, Alzheimers and Autism.

If you would like to know more, please get in touch or visit the website.
